23: DISABILITIES SESSION. Smyrna Community Center Magnolia Room, Tuesday, January 23, from 6:30 p.m. to 8. The City of Smyrna is seeking input from the community about the recreational programming needs of residents with disabilities and their families and whether the City can be doing more to make sure facilities, programs, and community are inclusive. If you are an individual with a disability, have friends or relatives with a disability, or work with individuals with disabilities, please come join us for an informal conversation and provide us with your insights, feedback, and suggestions. Members of city staff and some elected officials will be present to listen and receive feedback.

The City of Smyrna Parks and Recreation Department is holding a second public input meeting on the proposal for a mountain bike park at North Cooper Lake Park. 5: HISTORY SERIES. Dr. William Marchione, author of A Brief History of Smyrna, Georgia, will present the course “Smyrna, Georgia: An Episodic History” starting Monday, February 5. The six-part lecture series continues each Monday night from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Smyrna Library Meeting Room through Monday, March 12. The course traces the history of the city beginning with Native society in 1825 and travels through to Smyrna’s rapid expansion in the 1990s and today. Topics include transportation, agriculture, the Civil War, World Wars, and suburbanization. Space is limited in the class, and pre-registration is required.
